I AM BORN FOR SUCH A TIME
The Psalm of Hadassah
To the tune of Brahms, “Hungarian Rhapsody in F Minor”
This can be heard at
I am born for such a time
Such a nation, such an evil day.
I am called to fight this crime:
Let us be afflicted, let us fast and pray.
Elohim will answer in the middle of the night;
Elohim will bless us with the arm of his might;
Make my actions effective and accepted in your sight;
If my life is forfeit, let the wrong come right.
For I am born for such a year;
Such a city I was surely born.
Where my kinfolk live in fear
As the people vanish like the dew of morn.
Elohim will negate the intentions of the man,
So unrighteous, plotting with the slave of ha shatan.
Grant me favor and power, and the silence of a swan;
Grant your queen the courage to expose this con.
Chorus: I was once Hadassah, maid of Susa;
Now I am called Esther, queen of Persia;
Yahweh raised me, raised me as a surety;
Yahweh raised me to great insecurity.
I am born for such a time;
Such a time and such an awesome hour.
I am born for such an hour;
I am born to show the world your pow'r.
O my Father, I am your woman
O my Father, I am your power plan
O my Father, assure me that a woman can
Convince a king as tho he were any other man.
You brought me forth for such a year;
Such a year in such an awesome rage.
I came forth into this cage;
I came forth in this, a famous age.
O my Father, you made me Persia's queen;
Counterpart of Xerxes, the sovereign
I am Persian, and Xerxes is my husband king
But you, my Father, you are my everything!
