What are everyone's thoughts on Paul's statement in this passage below? He appears to be saying that Gentiles should remain in their initial non-Torah observing status if they come to redemption in…Continue

And Adonai God formed the man of dust from…Continue

About me:
I love math, science (esp. entomology), textual criticism, and martial arts. Of course the passion for scriptural exegesis overshadows the former things to the point that it need not be included in the list. I love the Most High and how He destroys my biblical paradigms every few years. I enjoy these moments of intellectual humility because they remind me that the job of interpreting scripture will never end and that the more I learn, the more I realize that I don't know anything. It's awesome. I tend to take an academic approach to scripture because I believe the law of parsimony to be true most of the time. Objective data comes before subjective data always (Peshat first).

Music:
Erez Yehiel, Hazakim, Idan Raichel, Ronen Shalom, Ariq Sinai and good old 80's music.
Interests:
Paleography; Real big on Textual Criticism and am proficient in Biblical Hebrew; NT Apologetics; I Own copies of the Hebrew Biblical DSS, Hebrew Sectarian DSS, Codex Vaticanus {B}, Codex Sinaiticus {א}, Codex Khabouris, Peshitto/Syriac Tanach, Von Gall Torah Shomronit (Samaritan Pentateuch / תורה שומרונית), Shem Tov's Hebrew Matthew, Jacob Chaim's Rabbinic Bible, Bible Hebraica Stuttgartensia (critical תנ״ך), the Mesorah, and much of the Chazal. HaShem {ב״ה} has blessed me greatly. Biblical (manuscript) languages: Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Ugaritic, Latin

וידעת עם-לבבך כי כאשר ייסר איש את-בנו יהוה אלהיך מיסרך
ושמרת את-מצות יהוה אלהיך ללכת בדרכיו וליראה אתו

"Thus you are to know in your heart that the LORD your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.
"Therefore, you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. (Dt 8:5-6)

From the חז”ל:

-- Polemo inquired of Rabbi (saying), “If a man has two heads, upon which one must he put tefillin?” The Rabbi replied, “you must either go into exile or be regarded as banned” – (Talmud Bavli, Masechta Menachot, 37a)
What is your favorite quote? (From Scripture or elsewhere)
-- Resistance builds muscle; pressure creates diamonds.

Textual Criticism: Gen. 49:22 - אלי־שוב vs.עלי־שור

Something I've been interested in for awhile is the possibility of a textual variation in Genesis 49:22. When the MT (= Massoretic Text), LXX (= Septuagint), and SP (= Samaritan Pentateuch) are compared something arises:…

Exegesis: 1 Enoch 15:8-12 -- Rephaim, Nephilim, Giants, and Demons

The Book of Enoch, a pseudepigraphic work, provides extra-biblical details on the era that preceded the deluge. In its expository retelling of several events, the book offers an etiology for certain or perhaps all, evil spirits. Based upon Schodde's translation of the Ethiopic documents, The Book of…

The Hebrew Bible holds many gems that cannot be discerned by simple English translations. Psalm 144 is a great example to illustrate this point. What follows is an image of Ps 144:3-4 with outlined items of interest and it's corresponding translation:…
