"Prove all things" (I Thes. 5:21)

James Trimm

Few pagan festivals have a history as strange as Halloween. This day is the eve of Allhallows Day (All Saints Day) and is one of the most solemn festivals of the Roman Catholic Church. Ironically it is also a day which commemorates beings and rites with which Christendom has claimed to be at war.

Six New "Old" Books

You may have noticed that we at the Worldwide Nazarene Assembly of Elohim have published six “new” books in the last week. These are not actually altogether “new” books. These are all books which we had published previously (some only in spiral bound form) but had never gotten formatted for our current publication system. Some of this actually required re-typing, re-typesetting and re-formatting the entire text of the book.

Now all of these books are available again:

Hermeneutics: Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth

Judaism has very systematic refined system of Hermeneutics (rules

for understanding the Scriptures).

Christianity differs not in having an alternate set of agreed upon

rules, but in having no agreed upon rules whatsoever!

As the Christian "Church Father" Jerome wrote:

The Jews insist upon a literal interpretation

of the Scripture based on thirteen rules,

but we know that the spiritual interpretation

is far superior.

With these… Continue

Striving Zealously on Behalf of Judaism (2Macc. 2:21)

In the days of the Maccabees there was a great apostasy from Torah. Men arose who were “lawless” (Torah-less) (1Macc. 1:11, 15) and left their sons uncircumcised (1Macc. 1:48) Many forsook the Torah joined them (1Macc. 1:52).

These men were much like Christians today who teach that the Law had been abolished and teach against circumcision. This anti-Torah group even sought to ban the Torah:

“The books of the Torah which they found they tore to pieces and burned with fire.… Continue

Psalms 17 - Even after repentance, doubts about one's spiritual hereafter can crop up in the mind. David was no different. In this Psalm he deals with these feelings.

The Gospel Acccording to the Hebrews

The Gospel According to the Hebrews is a "lost" apocryphal Gospel used anciently by the ancient Nazarenes and Ebionites. While no copies of this document have survived, much of it has survived in about 50 quotations and citations from it made by various ancient sources. Using these materials and other information at our disposal, we have reconstructed the complete text (at least as complete as we can have it at this date).

To my knowledge this is the first complete reconstruction of… Continue

End Time Sign of the Times: Modern Napoleonic Complexes

As a modern Biblical sign watcher a headline and little blurb of story caught my eye Saturday and that was the president of Chechnya leading a military operation as was reported on Saturday, October 2, 2009, in a Bloomberg News story.

Bloomberg reported that Chechnya's president, Ramzan Kadyrov, "led a security operation in which eight rebels were killed." The report went on to say that the "Kremlin-backed Kadyrov oversaw the… Continue

Getting Christians Saved

Several years ago a speaker at the annual convention of a major Christian denomination proclaimed “Brethren, the biggest job we… face today is to win our own members to Christ.” The speaker went on to say that in recent years many people had joined their denomination whose lives indicated that they were not “saved”. These Christians were realizing that they had harvested more chaff than wheat.

Friends, HaSatan’s plan is not to draw everyone into drunkenness, drug-dealing,… Continue

The Original Hebrew of Hebrews

The Munster Hebrew text of Hebrews is now in print for the first time in nearly 500 years, and for the first time ever in English!

Although the Greek version of the Epistle to the Hebrews has become the standard text used in Christendom, the "Church Fathers" of Christendom openly admitted that the Letter to the Hebrews had been originally written in Hebrew and was later translated into Greek.

Eusebius in the fourth century referred to a now lost writing by Clement of… Continue

Recovered Syriac Gospel Fragment

Commentary

Introduction

When I returned from my first trip to the Middle East in 1980 in search of Syriac manuscripts I showed professor Arthur Voobus a small Garshuni and Syriac manuscript I had purchased from a private family in Jerusalem. The first thing he did after I handed it to him to inspect was to begin peeling apart part of the cover. I was horrified. This beautiful sacred object was being destroyed. He saw my anxiety and he said, “Don't you know that this binding was… Continue
