Bamidbar – It’s all about numbers

The number of the able man for war was counted twice in the Book of Numbers, one at the beginning of the wilderness march for the 1st generation and one at the end of the wilderness march for the 2nd generation as follows:

1) 603,550 in Num 1:46;

2) 601,730 in Num 26:51;

The difference is 603,550 – 601,730 = 1820, what’s the secret about number 1820?

According to the rabbis, the most holy name of God YKVK, or tetragrammaton (יְהוָה) appeared exactly 1820 times in the Torah.

1820 = 26 x 70

26 is the gematria of YKVK (יְהוָה), and 70 is the gematria of secret, or sod (סוֹד) in Hebrew, alluding to the verse in Psalm 25:14:

סוֹד יְהוָה, לִירֵאָיו

The secret of YKVK is with them that fear Him…

So what is the secret of YKVK?

According to the rabbis, there are exactly 1820 root words in Torah, corresponding to 1820 appearances of the tetragrammaton.

Let’s delve a little deeper into the actual counting, and divide the 12 tribes into 2 groups as follows:

For the 1st group, it is quite obvious that the gematriot (plural of gematria) for the 6 tribal names are exactly 1820. Their overall head count has decreased by exactly 1820.

The 2nd group, while having their head count balanced out to zero, the gematriot of their names add up to 1870.

Number 1870 is beyond the scope of this study, so let’s focus on number 1820 instead.

1820 and 13 are intrinsically connected,  as can be demonstrated below:

It is obvious from the above matrix that it starts with the “one” and finishes at number 13 at two directions, with the central axle finishes at 49.

The two 13 obviously corresponds to “love”( אַהֲבָה) and “one”( אֶחָד), as both words have a gematria of 13, which are the two primary attributes of the name of God YKVK, as 13 + 13 = 26, the gematria of the tetragrammaton (i.e. God is one, God is love).

Number 49 obviously corresponds to the 49 days of counting the omer, which we’re doing at this time of year, as we’re fast approaching the 49th day of counting, in preparation for the feast of Shavuot, the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai. In the Hebrew calendar, the public reading of the Parshat Bamidbar, or Numbers, always precedes the holiday of Shavuot.

 The parallel numbers between 13 and 49 can be interpreted as follows, based on the gematria of the Hebrew word:

13,  God is love and God is one;

24, this is the gematria of אֶחְיֶה, meaning: I will have life;

33, this is the Lag BaOmer, the 33rd day of counting the omer, the secret of Torah, as discussed extensively during the past few weeks;

40, this is the process required to digest and internalize the Torah, 40 days wilderness, etc.

45, this is the gematria of Adam אָדָם, the first man, the final man;

48, the Yovel, the Jubilee, the freedom, as discussed extensively during the past 2 weeks.

Number 1820 is also encoded in the first word of the Torah, Bereshit (בְּרֵאשִׁית), or “in the beginning” as in English, if we work out the fillings of each of the 6 letters as follows:

What is the secret here? The gematria of Bereshit (בְּרֵאשִׁית), the first word in the Torah is 913. According to Kabbalah, the end is enwedged in the beginning. The full revelation of the 6 letters is 1820, as shown above, hence the hidden message is: 1820 – 913 = 907.

The two greatest commandments of the Torah, as taught by Yeshua in Matt 12:29-31 are Love God and Love man, the two verses in Torah in the original Hebrew each has a gematria of 907 as follows:

1) Deut 6:4…You shall love Adonai your God… וְאָהַבְתָּ, אֵת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ

2) Lev 19:18…you shall love your neighbor as yourself, I am Adonai… וְאָהַבְתָּ לְרֵעֲךָ כָּמוֹךָ: אֲנִי,יְהוָה.

This is quite astonishing, and no doubt one of the reasons why these two verses are of equal weight. This comes to teach us that one of the many encoded messages in the first word of the Torah is about love, the number 13.

Love God, and Love man, these are the two loves, 2 x 13 = 26, exactly the gematria of YKVK.

The name YKVK (יְהוָה) is pronounced as Adonai (אֲדֹנָי) according to Jewish tradition, the gematriot of the two names are 26 and 65, respectively.

One of the names of Yeshua is also called Amen, which in Hebrew is אָמֵן. The gematria is 91, and 91 is exactly the triangle number of 13.

According to Kabbalah, the name YKVK is not pronounced today until the Messianic Age is because this name is hidden for the current exile, and the revealed name is Adonai.

The gematria of YKVK יְהוָה (26) + the gematria of Adonai אֲדֹנָי (65) is exactly 91, the gematria of Amen.

By saying Amen every time, one of the deepest secrets is that we are connecting the two names of God in the spiritual realm for the hastening of the final redemption, the Kingdom on earth.

If we calculate the sum of the numbers between these two names, the result is exactly 1820, as follows:

26 + 27 + 28 + 29 + … + 62 + 63 + 64 + 65 = 1820

This comes to teach us that the connection between the two names, at one level is manifested as 91, the Amen, at another level, is 1820, as demonstrated above.

Hence the secret of 1820 is the also the secret of Yeshua, the Mashiach, who is also called Amen.

Love God is easy if one is a believer, but Love Man is difficult even for a believer. Hence the most central commandment in the Torah is “love your neighbor as yourself” as in Lev 19:18, which in Hebrew is:

וְאָהַבְתָּ לְרֵעֲךָ כָּמוֹךָ

The gematria of these three words is 820, and it has exactly 13 letters, the gematria of love. Now notice there are two letter Kaf’s is in their sofit form (ךָ). According to Jewish tradition, the gematria for the sofit forms are as follows:

regular

gematria

sofit

gematria

כ

20

ך

מ

40

ם

600

נ

50

ן

700

פ

80

ף

800

צ

90

ץ

900

The idea is that after the last letter Tav which has a gematria of 400, the counting will continue for 5 more times for the 5 sofit forms until 900. The next gematria will be 1000 which is also 1, the first letter Alef, thus completing the full circle.

 To apply this tradition, the gematriot for Kaf is 20 for the regular form, and 500 for the final form. Since the Kaf appears twice in this verse, the additional gematria is 1000, adding to the gematria of the verse 820, we have exactly 1820.

The message here is that Torah is all about love, and “love your neighbor as yourself” is more important than “love your God”. Why? If we can’t love our fellow man which we can see, how can we love God which we cannot see?

There are exactly 6 Kings to rule the Kingdom of Israel, 5 have been fulfilled, and the final one is yet to be fulfilled. We have the names for the first 5, but the last one is a title, Mashiach (Messiah), their gematriot add up to exactly 1820 as follows:

345

מֹשֶׁה

Moses

391

יְהוֹשֻׁעַ

Joshua

337

שָׁאוּל

Saul

14

דָּוִד

David

375

שְׁלֹמֹה

Solomon

358

מָּשִׁיחַ

Mashiach

1820

Let’s now reveal the name of the Mashiach from above table:

The first letter of the names and title above, from right to left, are: מ-י-ש-ד-ש-מ,

The gematria for each of the letter, from right to left, are: 40 + 10 + 300 + 4 + 300 + 40 = 694

What is the secret of number 694?

This is exactly the gematria of: Yeshua the first born of God, which in Hebrew is:

יֵשׁוּעַ בְּכֹר אֱלֹהִים

The gematria of Yeshua is 386, the gematria of first born is 222, the gematria of God (Elohim) is 86:

386 + 222 + 86 = 694

There is more.

Yeshua actually has two names. Yeshua is also known as Yeshu, the difference is the last letter Aiyin (עַ) is removed and the name is spelled as יֵשׁוּ.

The secret of this defective spelling is beyond the scope of this week’s study, suffice to say the removed letter Ayin has a gematria of 70, alluding to the 70 nations commonly known as the gentile world.

This name is concealed from the rabbis and only revealed to the 70 nations, as it were.

One of the encoding / decoding methods is Kabbalah is called “atbash” in accordance with the following chart, which in simple term is a mirror image of each of the 11 letters:

א

ת

ב

ש

ג

ר

ד

ק

ה

צ

ו

פ

ז

ע

ח

ס

ט

נ

י

מ

כ

ל

The atbash for the three letters of Yeshu ישו  is מבף, hence the decoded number is 122.

122 is exactly the sum of the gematriot of the last letters of the 6 Kings as demonstrated above:

The 6 letters are, from right to left: ה-ע-ל-ד-ה-ח,

The gematria for the 6 letters are, from right to left: 5 + 70 + 30 + 4 + 5 + 8 = 122.

The message here is that from front to back, and from inside out, Yeshua is the Mashiach that is soon to come.

1820 = 26 x 70 can therefore be understood to mean the name of God (26) being multiplied (gloried) by the “offering” of the “Aiyin” of Yeshua to the 70 nations.

Finally, 1820 = 182 x 10, the completion of the number 182. 182 is the gematria of Yaakov (Jacob) יַעֲקֹב.
