Eternal life is totally free - no strings all who BELIEVE in Him

Most denominations and religions teach some form of human effort as a means to attain heaven.  The Messiah came and took the punishment we deserve so He could offer us eternal life as a GIFT that He alone could pay for.  There is no prayer, no confession, no good work that could add to His perfect sacrifice. When someone adds anything more than faith it is no longer the Good News of the Bible. Hope we agree.

You have a misunderstanding of Eternal Life--a Christian view.  James is right, trust without works is dead.  Besides, there are warnings in Revelation that we will be "given according to our works".  Also, in Revelation there are promises of blessing to "overcomers", and warnings of punishment to believers who do not overcome.  What do you do with these?  No one adds to the perfect sacrifice of Messiah when one perseveres in good works until the end.
