Hebraic Roots Version Apocrypha Project Update

Hebraic Roots Version Apocrypha Project Update

Many of you have inquired about our current timetable for completing the Hebraic Roots Version of the Apocrypha. As many of you know this is a difficult and time consuming project that has literally taken years.

The Apocrypha are of Jewish origin and were originally part of the Tanak, but were not included in the Masoretic Text and did not become part of the Rabbinic canon. As a result the Hebrew original texts of these books were preserved poorly or not at all.

The reason for this is simple. The “Church” did not preserve the Hebrew text of the canonical Tanak books. The only Hebrew text (excepting the Samaritan Pentateuch and Dead Sea Scrolls) preserved has been the Masoretic Text. There is no alternate Hebrew text that was preserved by Christendom. Had it been Christendom’s responsibility alone to preserve the Hebrew Tanak, it would not have been preserved. Instead Christendom has preserved only the Greek and Latin versions. This has been true of the NT which also originated in Hebrew and Aramaic but was preserved in Christendom only in Greek and Latin (the Syriac Aramaic being an important exception preserved in the East).

It was the point of the Hebraic Roots Version Scriptures to restore the so-called “New Testament” by tracking down and translating into English (in some cases for the first time in history) the Hebrew and Aramaic source texts for the so-called New Testament.

The same is true of the Apocrypha. These books were originally written Hebrew and Aramaic, but the Church has preserved them only in Greek and Latin (the Syriac Aramaic being an important exception). We at WNAE have therefore embarked on a mission to recover as much as possible of the original Hebrew and Aramaic texts, or where not available the closest sources to those texts as possible.

I can now update you on our current timetable for when we expect to be ready to publish the Hebraic Roots Version of the Apocrypha.

We have just published a parallel Hebrew-English editions of the “lost” (or almost lost) Hebrew text of 1Maccabees.  (This is the first time in over 100 years that this Hebrew text has been published and the fist time ever that it has been published in English.)  You can get the paperback, hardback and ebook at:

http://nazarenespace.com/page/books-dvds

We will also be publishing similar parallel Hebrew-English editions of the “lost” (or almost lost) Hebrew texts of Tobit and Sira in coming months and we may publish Aramaic-English editions of some books in the months after.

On the current time table, we hope to have the Hebraic Roots Apocrypha ready and available by November 1st2013.

Meanwhile the King James Version of the Apocrypha is available at:

The KJV version might be OK, but I think I'd rather wait for the HRV version. I'm betting it's 100 X better. Thank you Bro. James.
