A lot of Biblical scholars like to ask the question "Are we in the End Times?" Then they go through a list of modern miseries and leave it up to you to decide, because they are too gutless to give you their conclusion. So let's look at the quintessetial End Time verse and find out:
"But you, Dani'el, keep these words secret, and seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will rush here and there as knowledge increases." (CJB)
In this verse we find a threefold prophecy, three things that would happen simultanously in history to let people know they had entered into and are living in "the time of the end" or the "End Times." The first is that the book's knowledge would be sealed, not understood, until the time of the end. That seal was broken by Sir Robert Anderson when he published his book "The Coming Prince" in 1895. Ever since then the sealed book of Daniel has been wide open to modern eschatologists.
"Many will rush here and there." This phrase comes from the ancient Hebrew word shuwt (pronounced: Shoot). The inferred implication of this word and phrase is quick and easy access to world transportation. When Sir Isaac Newton explained this verse he saw a future time when humans would invent traveling machines that could go up to 50 miles an hour. Upon reading this, some 80 years later, the athiest Voltaire said (to paraphrase) see what an idiot Christianity makes of an otherwise brillant scientist. Everyone knows that if humans traveled that fast their hearts would stop.
From Adam until around 1900 people either walked or used natural or animal power to get around. Within 69 years we had trains, planes, and automobiles, while sending human space crews to the moon.
Human knowledge has increased so much that we now call the age we live in "The Information Age." That didn't happen over night; from the time of Adam to the time of Abraham human knowledge doubled, from Abraham to Moses human knowledge doubled, from Moses to the time of David human knowledge doubled, from David to the time of Jesus human knowledge doubled, from Jesus to 1500 C.E. human knowledge doubled, from 1500 to 1700 human knowlege doubled, from 1700 to 1800 human knowledge doubled, from 1800 to1900 human knowledge doubled, from 1900 to1950 human knowledge doubled, from 1950 to 1970 human knowledge doubled, from 1970 to 1980 human knowledge doubled, from 1980 to 1990 human knowledge doubled, from 1990 to 1995 human knowledge doubled, from 1995 to 2000 human knowledge doubled, and today human knowledge doubles almost every year.
So the starting point for Daniel's threefold prophecy of the End Times is cica 1900. Thus you can say with confidence: "Yes! These are the End Times." And these End Times are rapidly coming to an end.
