“Understanding Yahweh” - Yahweh’s Attribute of Character

Character is the fiber of a person, the inherent complex of attributes that determine a person’s moral and ethical actions and reactions.  And the reason we must study these attributes is because by learning perfect character we will form our character.

Yahweh is Good

Yahweh, the Creator, and the Author of the Holy Scriptures, is perfectly good. Yahweh has never done anything wrong.  Yahweh is wonderful, and perfectly dependable. He has never been unfaithful.

“Good and upright is Yahweh; therefore He teaches sinners in the way. (Psalm 25:8)”

“Yahweh is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. Yahweh is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. (Psalm 145:8-9)”

“Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him. (Nahum 1:7)”

This is the basis of Yahweh’s character.  He stands in contrast with everything and everyone else.  Even the Messiah declared this fact: “Now behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Rabbi, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, Yahweh but if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." (Matthew 19:16,17)”

The contrast is most seen when His goodness is compared to evil.  Yahweh has a righteous attitude toward evil.  A righteous being’s attitude towards evil must be one of abhorrence.  Yahweh hates evil.

“He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice, an Elohim of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He. (Deuteronomy 32:4)”

“…Yahweh is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. (Psalm 92:15)”

“You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours a person more righteous than he? (Habakkuk 1:13)”

“…Yahweh saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And Yahweh was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. (Genesis 6:5,6)”

“For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your Elohim. (Deuteronomy 25:16)”

“Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by Yahweh"; for Yahweh cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.  Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. (James 1:13-18)”

Out of such abhorrence Yahweh avoids evil.  Yahweh being perfect in character naturally He must abhor evil and therefore cannot and will not practice evil.

"Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: far be it from Elohim to do wickedness, and from the Almighty to commit iniquity. For He repays man according to his work, and makes man to find a reward according to his way. Surely Elohim will never do wickedly, nor will the Almighty pervert justice. (Job 34:10-12)”

“That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? (Genesis 18:25)”

“Wherefore now let the fear of Yahweh be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with Yahweh our Elohim, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts. (2 Chronicles 19:7)”

“What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with Yahweh? Yahweh forbid. (Romans 9:14)”

Yahweh opposes evil by teaching against it (Psalms 119); warning against it (Jeremiah 6:10; Ezekiel 3:17-20; 33:4,5; Colossians 1:28); and by punishing those who practice it (Amos 1:3-2:6; Matthew 25:46; 1 Peter 2:14).  The teachings and warnings of the Word of Yahweh to Cain, Pharaoh, Israel, Ba’al Olam, Sha’ul HaMelek, David HaMelek and many others are all illustrations of Yahweh’s opposition to evil.  Also the “Day of Vengeance” and the “Second Death” are the most severe examples of Yahweh’s opposition to evil.

“…[Yahweh] shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, Yahweh our Elohim shall cut them off. (Psalm 94:23)”

“Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow. (Isaiah 50:11)”

“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you. (Jeremiah 5:25)”

“But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith Yahweh: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it. (Jeremiah 21:14)”

“But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Sovereign Yahweh. (Ezekiel 11:21)”

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned--for before the Torah was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no Torah. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.  But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did Yahweh's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Messiah YahShua, overflow to the many! Again, the gift of Yahweh is not like the result of the one man's sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive Yahweh's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Messiah YahShua. Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.  The Torah was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Messiah YahShua our King. (Romans 5:12-21)”

“Do not be deceived: Yahweh cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. (Galatians 6:7)”

If Yahweh Is Good, Why Is There So Much Suffering in the World?

Every one of us has been the victim of the Death Angel when we lose a love one.  For me it came at age 11 when I lost my mother, brother, and sister in a fiery car crash.  In the space of 12 hours I lost half of my family and I was confused and grief stricken.  Where was Yahweh in this?

We watch the television screen and see starving children and the victims of oppressive regimes.

We read the newspaper and learn of an abduction, murder, or robbery. In some way we have all been confronted with the reality of suffering.

In the midst of all this suffering we cry out,  “Why is light given to those in misery, and life to the bitter of the soul, to those who long for death that does not come, who search for it more than for hidden treasure ... For sighing comes to me instead of food; my groans pour out like water. What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil. (Job 3:20-21, 24-26)”

The reason Yahweh allows evil to continue is that He loves us; all of us and his mercy endures forever. If Yahweh always prevented people from sinning, or always prevented the consequences of sin, then human goodness would be mere programming, not true goodness. Suffering is the consequence of human action, it is not always caused by Yahweh although it is always governed by Him, but sometimes it is caused by the actions of people with moral responsibility. Suffering can also be a direct, just consequence of our own actions.

It was from Yahweh’s attribute of mercy that He could not abandoned the world to eternally suffer the consequences of sin.

“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His [creation], and His [creation] could not contain Him… No one has seen Yahweh at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has revealed Him… the Word (the Son) became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth… But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of Yahweh, to those who believe in His name (John 1:10,11,18,12)”

“For Yahweh so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)”

The mercy of Yahweh has been made obtainable only through the redemptive act of Messiah YahShua, the Lamb of Yahweh. Despite our moral betrayal, He continues to offer eternal life.

However, when is mercy no more mercy?   When there is no justice in the world.  Goodness is dependent upon truth and truth leads to justice. Ultimately Yahweh will act from His attribute of justice.

For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die. (Ezekiel 18:4)”

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Yahweh is eternal life in Messiah YahShua our King. (Romans 6:23)”

“Yahweh is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)”

Now do you understand why bad things happen? It is because Yahweh loves us all and wants us all to have the chance to come to know Him. One day He will put a stop to all the bad things going on. But you better hope at that point that you are on the right side, because remember the punishment for all sin is death. That means for all sin, from deception to murder.

Yahweh does govern suffering it has a purpose. Complete avoidance of suffering is not an option. We must be careful not to waste our experience of Yahweh’s purposes in the midst of suffering. Through suffering we can learn patience, self-discipline, trust, and many other “virtues.” When we suffer we can experience the love, compassion, and self-denial of those who help us. When we help someone who is suffering, we find significance in our own lives as well.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. (Romans 8:18)”

Suffering and death in this sinful world are not without remedy. The only reasonable response to the existence of suffering is confidence in Yahweh’s promises for eternity:

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. . .Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. . . . Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew 5:3-10)”

Yahweh is Love

"Yahweh is Love," this simple yet complex statement is found only twice in the Holy Scriptures.

"Whoever is without love does not know Yahweh, for Yahweh is love. (1 John 4:8)"

“…we have known and believed the love that Yahweh has for us. Yahweh is love, and he who abides in love abides in Yahweh, and Yahweh in him. (1 John 4:16)”

Yahweh not only loves us, but it is noteworthy that His very Person is love. Love is the essence of His being, the driving force behind everything He does. That is why He wants this chief attribute to be the driving force behind all that we do especially when it is directed towards Him.

The love of Yahweh is uninfluenced. There is nothing whatever in the objects of His love to cause His love into existence. The love of Yahweh is free, spontaneous, uncaused. The only reason why Yahweh loves any is found in His own sovereign will:

"Yahweh did not set His love upon you, nor choose you because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: but because Yahweh loved thee (Deut. 7:7,8). "

Yahweh has loved His people from everlasting, and therefore nothing of the creature can be the cause of what is found in Yahweh from eternity. He loves from Himself: "according to His own purpose" (2 Tim. 1:9).  Yahweh’s love for "His own," was entirely unmoved by anything in them.  On the contrary everything in fallen man repulses Yahweh, everything sinful, depraved, corrupted, with "no good thing" in us, yet He loved us.  He loved us in spite of ourselves not because of ourselves.

Yahweh did not love us because we loved Him, but He loved us before we had a particle of love for Him.  He loved us when we were loveless. "We love Him, because He first loved us (1 John 4:19)."

It must be understood that true love reflects the totality of goodness. Absolute goodness resides in Yahweh alone and is shared by Him with those who have sincerely sought association with Him.

Attributes of love include patience, kindness, protection, trusting, hoping, and persevering. Love is not envious, boastful, proud, rude, self-seeking, easily angered, holding grudges nor does it take delight in evil.

Since Yahweh is eternal, and Yahweh is love; and Yahweh has no beginning or end, His love has no beginning or end.

"I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee. (Jeremiah 31:3)"

This passage proves Yahweh’s love is spontaneous, for He loved us endless ages before we had any being.  This is what Rabbi Sha’ul is saying in Ephesians 1:4,5, "According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him. In love having predestinated us."

Yahweh is sovereign, under obligations to none, a law unto Himself, and acting always according to His own divine pleasure. Since Yahweh is sovereign, and since He is love, His love is sovereign. He loves whom He pleases.

Everything about Yahweh is infinite. So His love is without limit. There is a depth to it that we cannot fathom; there is a height to it we cannot climb; there is a length and breadth to it which defies understanding.

With Yahweh there is "no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17), so His love knows neither change nor end. Divine love is "strong as death ... many waters cannot quench it" (Song of Sol. 8:6,7).  Nothing can separate from it: Romans 8:35-39. “…Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8).”

Yahweh’s love is not regulated by whim, or sentiment, but by principle. His love never conflicts with His holiness. Yahweh’s love is not weak, nor sloppy. Scripture declares, "whom Yahweh loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth" (Heb. 12:6). Yahweh’s love is pure, unmixed with lust.

The great doctrinarian of the Pentecostal movement was also a Rabbi’s son, Myer Pearlman.  He said concerning Yahweh’s love, “Love is the attribute of [Yahweh] by reason of which He desires a personal relationship with those who bare His image and especially with those that have been made holy and are like Him in character.” Yahweh is good. Goodness loves and associates with that which is good. Perfect goodness –which is the nature of Yahweh– is only able to associate with that which has been made or becomes perfectly good.

“…because Yahweh loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, Yahweh has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. (Deuteronomy 7:8)”

“…Yahweh, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Messiah (Ephesians 2:4,5)”

“Yahweh your Elohim in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17)”

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me. (Isaiah 49:15,16)”

“…height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of Yahweh which is in Messiah YahShua our King. (Romans 8:39)”

“I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love, and I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck.  I stooped and fed them. (Hosea 11:4)”

“Yahweh has appeared of old to me, saying: ‘Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.’ (Jeremiah 31:3)”

Now, that the argument of the reality of the love of Yahweh is settled, how has Yahweh chosen to exhibit His love.

"Herein is love, not that we loved Yahweh, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world (I John 4:10; 2:2)."

“For Yahweh so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)”

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his Ahav (lover). You are My Ahav if you do whatever I command you. (John 15:13-14)”

“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?  Who shall bring a charge against Yahweh's elect? It is Yahweh who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Messiah who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of Yahweh, who also makes intercession for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written (in Psalm 44:22): ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’  Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of Yahweh which is in Messiah YahShua our King. (Romans 8:32-39)”

“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;  bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away…And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8,13)”

“…that Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the Tzadikkim (saints) what is the width and length and depth and height; to know the love of Messiah which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of Yahweh.  Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:17-20)”

“For Yahweh has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)”

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of Yahweh! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. (1 John 3:1)”

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of Yahweh; and everyone who loves is born of Yahweh and knows Yahweh. He who does not love does not know Yahweh, for Yahweh is love. In this the love of Yahweh was manifested toward us, that Yahweh has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.  In this is love, not that we loved Yahweh, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins… Whoever confesses that Rebbe YahShua is the Son of Yahweh, Yahweh abides in him, and he in Yahweh. And we have known and believed the love that Yahweh has for us. Yahweh is love, and he who abides in love abides in Yahweh, and Yahweh in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us. (1 John 4:7-10, 15-19)”

If Yahweh is love and after we receive the Nefesh HaShammayim (birth from above) we are of Yahweh, then we are love. Now, taking this a bit further: if Yahweh is love and love is the essence of All That Is, and we are of Yahweh, then we can extract from the knowledge and wisdom of Yahweh intense feelings of love for one another.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:34,35)"

"For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7)  "And so we know and rely on the love Yahweh has for us. Yahweh is Love." It is time for us to rely on Yahweh’s love, which we possess, for greater insight into the lives that we live. "Whoever lives in love... (meditates and prays in love), lives in Yahweh and Yahweh in him."

Part of Yahweh’s love is His holy affections.  Yahweh’s affections and attractions are holy in nature, in the object they attach themselves to and in the manner in which they express themselves.  These affections are partly intellectual, partly artistic, partly religious, partly selfish and partly social.

His intellectual affections are His love of knowing.

“Yahweh Elohay HaElohim, Yahweh Elohay HaElohim, He knows, and let Israel itself know--if it is in rebellion, or if in treachery against Yahweh, do not save us this day. (Joshua 22:22)”

“For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. (Psalm 1:6)”

“Yahweh knows the days of the upright, and their inheritance shall be forever. (Psalm 37:18)”

“If we had forgotten the name of our Elohim, or stretched out our hands to a foreign elohim, would not Elohim search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. (Psalm 44:20,21)”

“He who instructs the nations, shall He not correct, he who teaches man knowledge? Yahweh knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile. Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O Yahweh, and teach out of Your Torah (Psalm 94:10-12).”

“…when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. (Matthew 6:7,8)”

“…do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?' or "What shall we drink?' or "What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the Kingdom of Yahweh and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:31-33; Luke 12:30,31)”

“…of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven nor the Son, but My Father only. (Matthew 24:36; Mark 13:32)”

“All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. (Luke 10:22)”

“I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. (John 10:14-16)”

“Yahweh, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving [Gentiles] the Holy Spirit, just as He did to {Israel] (Acts 15:8)”

“…the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of Yahweh.  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love Yahweh, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:26-28)”

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to Yahweh, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.  And their message will spread like cancer….who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.  Nevertheless the solid foundation of Yahweh stands, having this seal: "Yahweh knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Messiah depart from iniquity." (2 Timothy 2:15-19)”

“…Yahweh knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries (2 Peter 2:9,10)”

“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.  And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For if our heart condemns us, Yahweh is greater than our heart, and knows all things.  Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward Yahweh. And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.  And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Messiah YahShua and love one another, as He gave us commandment. (1 John 3:18-23)”

                His love of remembering.

“…I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between Elohim and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth. (Genesis 9:15,16)”

“…I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the land…But for their sake I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their Elohim: I am Yahweh. (Leviticus 26:42,45)”

“He remembers His covenant forever, the word which He commanded, for a thousand generations (Psalm 105:8)”

“…I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you. (Ezekiel 16:60)”

“For He remembered His holy promise, and Abraham His servant. (Psalm 105:42)”

“He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our Elohim. (Psalm 98:3)”

“…He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and did not destroy them. Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, and did not stir up all His wrath; for He remembered that they were but flesh, a breath that passes away and does not come again. (Psalm 78:38,39)”

“…He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. (Psalm 103:14)”

“For the sacrifices of My offerings they sacrifice flesh and eat it, but Yahweh does not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins. They shall return to Egypt (oppression). (Hosea 8:13)”

                His love of reasoning.

“For the ways of man are before the eyes of Yahweh, and He ponders all his paths. (Proverbs 5:21)”

“…I would speak to El Shaddai, and I desire to reason with Elohim. (Job 13:3)”

“Would He contend with me in His great power? No! But He would take note of me. There the upright could reason with Him, and I would be delivered forever from my Judge. (Job 23:6,7)”

“Learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.
’Come now, and let us reason together,’ says Yahweh, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:17-19).”

Yahweh’s artistic affections are His love of beauty.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that Elohim does from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)”

                His love for the sublime.

“Yahweh is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the House of Yahweh forever. (Psalm 23)”

His love for the eloquent.

“Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, as raindrops on the tender herb, and as showers on the grass. (Deuteronomy 32:1,2)”

                His love for the humorous.

“He will yet fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with rejoicing. (Job 8:21)”

“A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance…(Proverbs 15:13)”

“…he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast. (Proverbs 15:15)”

“A merry heart does good, like medicine…(Proverbs 17:22)”

                His love for the pleasant.

“…out of the ground Yahweh Elohim made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. (Genesis 2:9)”

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (Psalm 133:1)”

“Praise Yahweh, for Yahweh is good; sing praises to His name, for it is pleasant. (Psalm 135:3)”

“Praise Yahweh! For it is good to sing praises to our Elohim; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. (Psalm 147:1)”

“…the words of the pure are pleasant. (Proverbs 15:26)”

“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)”

“’How can I put you among the children and give you a pleasant land, a beautiful heritage of the hosts of nations?' and I said: ‘You shall call Me, "My Father," and not turn away from Me.' (Jeremiah 3:19)”

“’Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Sovereign, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His Temple, even the Messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, He is coming,’ says Yahweh Tzva'ot.

But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like launderers' soap. He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to Yahweh an offering in righteousness.

Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasant to Yahweh, as in the days of old, as in former years. (Malachi 3:1-4)”

                His love for the creative.

“In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)”

“Elohim created man in His own image; in the image of Elohim He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:27)”

“Then Elohim blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which Elohim had created and made. This is the toledoth (history) of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that Yahweh Elohim made the earth and the heavens (Genesis 2:3,4)”

“Create in me a clean heart, O Elohim, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)”

“He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, and shall not despise their prayer. This will be written for the generation to come, that a people yet to be created may praise Yahweh. For He looked down from the height of His Sanctuary; from Heaven Yahweh viewed the earth (Psalm 102:17-19).”

“You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth. (Psalm 104:30)”

“Let them praise the name of Yahweh, for He commanded and they were created. (Psalm 148:5)”

“Thus says Elohim Yahweh, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it (Isaiah 42:5)”

                His love of believing.

“Do not fear, nor be afraid; have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there an Elohim besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock;  I know not one. (Isaiah 44:8)”

“…he believed in Yahweh, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. (Genesis 15:6)”

                His love for faith.

“Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith. (Habakkuk 2:4)”

“I am not ashamed of the Full Messianic Message of Messiah, for it is the power of Yahweh to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of Yahweh is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:16,17)”

“For as many as depend on the legalistic observance of the Torah lives under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the Scroll of the Torah, to do them. (Deuteronomy 27:26)" But that no one is justified by legalism in the sight of Yahweh is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." Furthermore, legalism is not of faith, but on the misuse of the text "the man who does them shall live by them. (Leviticus 18:5)" (Galatians 3:10-12)”

His love for the firmness of will.  Yahweh so loves the resolve of will that is a manifestation of the love of the Believer.  He loves the perseverance of the righteous will.

“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him. (Job 13:15)”

He loves righteous principles.  This is evident by the inclusion of the principles by the Messiah in his “Sermon on the Mount.”

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.  Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see Yahweh. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of Yahweh. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. (Matthew 5:3-10)”

Yahweh’s love is more than unconditional, it is “Ahavah,” sacrificial love.

…[nothing] shall be able to separate us from the love of Yahweh which is in Messiah YahShua our King. (Romans 8:32,39)”

Yahweh’s Ahavah (I would die for you) love was exercised in a holy manner reaching out to “whosoever will” and if they are unholy He exercises His love of holiness making them holy.

Yahweh loves you with a jealous love.  Yahweh’s affections are selfish.  Selfish love may be holy or unholy, depending on the manner of quality, the manner of exercise, and the things to which it attaches itself to.  Yahweh’s selfish love is holy because its qualities are holy.  They work in a holy manner and attach themselves to holy principles.

For instance, Yahweh has a love for proper self-esteem.

“Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? Ye are even my witnesses. Is there a Elohim beside me? yea, there is no elohim; I know not any. (Isaiah 44:8)”

“If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15)”

The way we feel about ourselves has a huge affect on the way we treat ourselves and others, and on the kinds of choices we make. Yahweh is fully confident in Himself so He may treat us with confidence. Eleanor Roosevelt said "Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission."  Yahweh says, there is no one existing, no other elohim that can make Him feel inferior.

Yahweh wants to pass on a positive self-esteem to His children.  Yahweh loves to see your esteem, ease, safety, life, self-defense, gaining, retaining, spiritual maturity multiplying.  He knows that to have a proper self-esteem these must increase.

To build esteem, Yahweh has told you, He chose you.  Yahweh has loved you from eternity.

“Yahweh did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because Yahweh loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, Yahweh has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Therefore know that Yahweh your Elohim, He is Elohim, the faithful Elohim who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments (Deuteronomy 7:7-9).”

“Indeed Heaven and the highest heavens belong to Yahweh your Elohim, also the earth with all that is in it. Yahweh delighted only in your fathers, to love them; and He chose their descendants after them, you above all peoples, as it is this day.  Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer. (Deuteronomy 10:14-16)”

“…Thus saith the Sovereign Yahweh; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the House of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am Yahweh your Elohim (Ezekiel 20:5)”

“…we are bound to give thanks to Yahweh always for you, brethren beloved by the Sovereign, because Yahweh from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our Full Message, for the obtaining of the glory of our King Messiah YahShua. (2 Thessalonians 2:13,14)”

“…ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of Yahweh: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2:9,10)”

Not only did Yahweh choose you in love He redeemed you with the blood of His precious only begotten son.  Knowing how special you are will build your esteem.  You must reach out and possess this knowledge because there is a conspiracy of darkness to reduce your esteem and drive you from the safety of the Kingdom ultimately killing you.

“…I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth (Job 19:25)”

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Yahweh, my strength, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)”

“For their redeemer is mighty; He shall plead their cause with thee. (Proverbs 23:11)”

“Thus saith Yahweh the King of Israel, and His redeemer Yahweh Tzva'ot; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no Elohim… Thus saith Yahweh, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am Yahweh that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself (Isaiah 44:6)”

“As for our redeemer, Yahweh Tzva'ot is His name, the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 47:4)”

“…thy Maker is thine husband; Yahweh Tzva'ot is His name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; the Elohim of the whole earth shall He be called.

“…I Yahweh am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. (Isaiah 60:16)”

“…the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith Yahweh. (Isaiah 59:20)”

“Their Redeemer is strong; Yahweh Tzva'ot is His name: he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land (Jeremiah 50:34)”

“Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? (Proverbs 30:4)”

“[Miriam] shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name YahShua: for he shall save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:21)”

“Yahweh, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. (Hebrews 1:1-4)”

“…Messiah, who is the image of Yahweh (2 Corinthians 4:4).”
“…in [Messiah] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible Elohim, the firstborn over all creation. For through Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:14-16)”

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amien.  I am Aleph and Tauv, the beginning and the ending, saith the Sovereign, which is, and which was, and which is to come, El Shaddai. (Revelation 1:7-9)”

“…It is done. I am Aleph and Tauv, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (Revelation 21:6)”

“I am Aleph and Tauv, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. (Revelation 22:13)”

Not only has He chosen you and redeemed you, by His Spirit He is indwelling in you.  We are reborn as a new creature in Messiah having the Nefesh HaShammayim. We possess the life of the risen Messiah Himself. We are the Temple of Yahweh.

“A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be My people, and I will be your Elohim. (Ezekiel 36:26-28)”

“So then they that are in the flesh cannot please Yahweh.  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of Yahweh dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Messiah, he is none of His.  And if Messiah be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. And if Messiah be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Rebbe YahShua from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Messiah from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of Yahweh, they are the sons of Yahweh. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of Yahweh: and if children, then heirs; heirs of Yahweh, and joint-heirs with Messiah; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.  (Romans 8:8-10)”

“Know ye not that ye are the Temple of Yahweh, and that the Spirit of Yahweh dwelleth in you?  If any man defile the Temple of Yahweh, him shall Yahweh destroy; for the Temple of Yahweh is holy, which Temple ye are. (1 Corinthians 3:16,17)”

“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from Yahweh, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify Yahweh in your body and in your spirit, which are Yahweh's. (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)”

“…when the fulness of the time was come, Yahweh sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the Torah, to redeem them that were under the Torah, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, Yahweh hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of Yahweh through Messiah. (Galatians 4:4-7)”

“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Yahweh by Messiah YahShua. (1 Peter 2:5)”

“Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.  Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the Temple of my Elohim, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my Elohim, and the name of the city of my Elohim, which is New Jerusalem, which cometh down out of Heaven from my Elohim: and I will write upon him my new name.  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the assembly. (Revelation 3:11-13)”

As a believer, we are justified by faith and, therefore, am accepted of Yahweh. We are not guilty; and we are not worthy of hell or of any condemnation.

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of Yahweh our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3,4)”

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with Yahweh through our King Messiah YahShua, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of Yahweh. (Romans 5:1-2)”

As a believer, Yahweh has adopted us and, therefore, we are the children of the Elohim of Heaven and earth and am heir of all things.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of Yahweh, these are sons of Yahweh. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of Yahweh… For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? (Romans 8:14-16, 22-24)”

“For I could wish that myself were accursed from Messiah for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of Yahweh, and the promises; whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Messiah came, who is over all, Yahweh blessed for ever. Amien. (Romans 9:3-5)”

“…He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Messiah YahShua to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. (Ephesians 1:4-6)”

As a believer, we are sanctified, pure, the spotless goodness of the Holy Spirit.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Messiah YahShua, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the Torah of the Spirit of life in Messiah YahShua has made me free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2)”

“Blessed be the Elohim and Father of our King Messiah YahShua, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Messiah YahShua from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of Yahweh through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Messiah YahShua, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls. Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,  searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Messiah who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Messiah and the glories that would follow. To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the Full Messianic Message to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things which angels desire to look into.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Messiah YahShua; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy. (Leviticus 11:44, 45; 19:2; 20:7)"

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Messiah, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in Yahweh, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in Yahweh.

Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit  in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of Yahweh which lives and abides forever, because  "All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of Yahweh endures forever. (Isaiah 40:6-8)" (1 Peter 1)”

As a believer, we are destined for glory.

“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. (Romans 8:29-31)”

“You, O Yahweh, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. (Psalm 3:3)”

“Now the Sovereign is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Sovereign is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Sovereign, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Sovereign. (2 Corinthians 3:17-19)”

“Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in King YahShua and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the Elohim of King Messiah YahShua, the Father of glory, may give to you the Spirit of Wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

which He worked in Messiah when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the Heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.   And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the assembly, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Ephesians 1:15-22)”

If you believe in the Full Messianic Message, you must believe what it says you are.  When Rebbe YahShua says that “the second commandment of the Torah, like to the first, is this, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself,(Matthew 22:38-40)" clearly He implies that we do love and esteem ourselves.

I prefer not to define proper self-esteem as my own regard of myself as good and as my own affirmation of myself. Rather, I would define proper self-esteem is Yahweh's regard of me as good and beloved. It is Yahweh's judgment of me in the Word as forgiven and as adopted as His child.

Yahweh also has social affections.  Yahweh loves covenant.

“For when Yahweh made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself,  saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you. (Genesis 22:17)" And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.  For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. Thus Yahweh, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for Yahweh to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.  This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even YahShua, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Meleki Tzedek. (Hebrews 6:13-20)”

                Yahweh loves His children.

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of Yahweh (Romans 8:16)”

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with Yahweh through our King Messiah YahShua, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of Yahweh. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of Yahweh has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:1-5)”

                Yahweh loves Israel.

“…because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their descendants after them; and He brought you out of Egypt with His Presence, with His mighty power (Deuteronomy 4:37).”

“…because Yahweh loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, Yahweh has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. (Deuteronomy 7:8)”

“Yahweh your Elohim would not listen to Balaam, but Yahweh your Elohim turned the curse into a blessing for you, because Yahweh your Elohim loves you. (Deuteronomy 23:5)”

“Blessed be Yahweh your Elohim, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel! Because Yahweh has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness. (1 Kings 10:9; 2 Chronicles 9:8)”

“Yahweh has appeared of old to me, saying: ‘Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. (Jeremiah 31:3)”

“I say then, has Yahweh cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. Yahweh has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with Yahweh against Israel, saying "Yahweh, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life (1 Kings 19:10, 14)"? But what does the divine response say to him? "I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Ba’al. (1 Kings 19:18)" Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. Just as it is written: "Yahweh has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear, to this very day. (Deuteronomy 29:4; Isaiah 29:10)"

And David says: "Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a recompense to them. Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see, and bow down their back always. (Psalm 69:22, 23)" (Romans 11:1-27)”

Yahweh loves the Community of Messiah – the Commonwealth.

“Yahweh demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Messiah died for us. (Romans 5:8)”

Yahweh is Gracious

The third element of Yahweh character is grace.

“…Yahweh has dealt graciously with me…( Genesis 33:11)”

“…[Yahweh] said, "I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of Yahweh before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion." (Exodus 33:19)”

“…Yahweh passed before him and proclaimed, "Yahweh, Yahweh Elohim, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation." (Exodus 34:6,7)”

“You, O Adonai, are an Elohim full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth. (Psalm 86:15)”

“Gracious is Yahweh, and righteous; yes, our Elohim is merciful. (Psalm 116:5)”

What is Grace?

The meaning of grace that is taught by today's false belief systems is that “grace is the unmerited, or un-deserved favor of Yahweh.”

To find the proper definition of “grace” we must go to Yahweh’s word.  In Genesis 6:8 we see the first reference to “grace,”  “Noah found grace in the eyes of Yahweh.”  The Hebrew word translated here as grace is “Chen” meaning, “kindness or favor.”  The only other Hebrew word translated as grace is “teChinnah” meaning “favor or supplication.”  “And now for a little while grace has been shown from Yahweh our Elohim, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our Elohim may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage. (Ezra 9:8)”

However, it is in the Messianic Scriptures that we get the full meaning of grace.  The first word translated grace is the Greek word “Charis” which is the reflection in life of Yahweh’s influence over the heart. “[YahShua] grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of Yahweh was upon him. (Luke 2:40)”  And “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)”

The only other word translated as grace is the Greek word “euprepia” which is a composite of “eu” meaning good and “prepo” meaning acceptable.  “For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. (James 1:11)”

So we can come to an understanding of the word grace from all these words.  Grace is the unmerited power given unto man to do Yahweh’s will returning man back to favor.

“For it is Yahweh which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)”

“But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Messiah. (Ephesians 4:7)”

When we speak of the main attributes of Yahweh’s character we usually mention wisdom, power, justice and love.  But as the Apostle Rabbi Kepha shows us in 2 Peter 1:5-7 they can be resolved thusly: wisdom is the combination of faith, hope (which is the heart of fortitude) and knowledge.  Power (is an attribute of being and not character) is the combination of self-control and patience.  Justice is the combination of righteousness (duty to do right) and love.  These are the higher primary graces or dominate graces.  We called them the primary graces because they acts through the religious affection of Yahweh.

“But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. ”

Yahweh’s lower primary graces are the qualities of grace that act through Yahweh’s selfish and social affections as their qualities.  Yahweh’s shalom (peace) is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of Sabbath (rest) as its quality.  “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3)”  Yahweh’s combativeness is the grace that acts through is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of self-defense as its quality.  “[Yahweh] teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. (Psalm 18:34)”  Blessed be Yahweh my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle (Psalm 144:1).”  Yahweh’s self-defense or self-preservation is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of life as its quality.  “Preserve me, O Elohim, for in You I put my trust. (Psalm 16:1)”  “…Yahweh will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly Kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amien! (2 Timothy 4:18)”  Yahweh’s cautiousness is the grace that acts through His love of safety as its quality.  “Hold me up, and I shall be safe, and I shall observe Your statutes continually. (Psalm 119:117)”  Yahweh’s factfullness is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of the truth as its quality.  “All the paths of Yahweh are mercy and truth, to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. (Psalm 25:10)”  "…Yahweh lives, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; the nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him they shall glory. (Jeremiah 4:2)"  Yahweh’s aggressiveness is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of attacking the adversary as its quality.  “…Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of Yahweh, and Yahweh killed him. (Genesis 38:7)”  “And it came to pass, when Pharaoh was stubborn about letting us go, that Yahweh killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore I sacrifice to Yahweh all males that open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.' (Exodus 13:15)” Yahweh’s executiveness is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of organization as its quality.  “For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am Yahweh. (Exodus 12:12)”  Yahweh’s enterprizingness is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of gaining and retaining as its quality.  “May Yahweh give you increase more and more, you and your children. (Psalm 115:14)”  Yahweh’s providence is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of giving as its quality.  “Yahweh having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us. (Hebrews 11:40)”  Yahweh’s appetite is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of receiving as its quality.  “Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; for Yahweh has heard the voice of my weeping. Yahweh has heard my supplication; Yahweh will receive my prayer. (Psalm 6:8,9)”  Yahweh’s sense of family is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love for the Commonwealth of Israel (Knesset Yisrael), the community of Messiah as its quality.  “Thus says Yahweh: "The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness--Israel, when I went to give him rest." Yahweh has appeared of old to me, saying: "Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You shall again be adorned with your tambourines, and shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice. You shall yet plant vines on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant and eat them as ordinary food. For there shall be a day when the watchmen will cry on Mount Ephraim, "Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to Yahweh our Elohim."'  For thus says Yahweh: "Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, "O Yahweh, save Your people, the remnant of Israel!' Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the ends of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and the one who labors with child, together; a great throng shall return there. They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble; for I am a Father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn. (Jeremiah 31:2-9)”  “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our King Messiah YahShua, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the Tzaddikim (saints) what is the width and length and depth and height--to know the love of Messiah which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of Yahweh.  Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the assembly by Messiah YahShua to all generations, forever and ever. Amien. (Ephesians 3:14-21)”  Yahweh’s fatherliness as Abba is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love for His children as its quality.  “For as many as are led by the Spirit of Yahweh, these are B’nei Yahweh (sons of Yahweh).  For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."  The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of Yahweh (Romans 8:14-16).”  Yahweh friendliness is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love for his loved ones as its quality.  “But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the descendants of Abraham My friend. (Isaiah 41:8)”  “And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed Yahweh, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of Yahweh. (James 2:23)”  Yahweh’s sense of belonging is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of home as its quality.  “And let them make Me a Sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. (Exodus 25:8)”  “I will walk among you and be your Elohim, and you shall be My people. (Leviticus 26:12)”  Behold, I will gather them out of all countries where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. They shall be My people, and I will be their Elohim; then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them. (Jeremiah 32:37-39)”  My Tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people. (Ezekiel 37:27)” For you are the Temple of El Chayim (the living El). As Yahweh has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My people." (2 Corinthians 6:16)” “Therefore they are before the throne of Yahweh, and serve Him day and night in His Temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. (Revelation 7:15) Yahweh patriotism is the grace that acts through Yahweh’s love of Kingdom as its quality.  “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amien. (Matthew 6:9-13)”  “…you think to withstand the Kingdom of Yahweh, which is in the hand of the sons of David…(2 Chronicles 13:8)”  “Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King's enemies; the peoples fall under You. Your throne, O Elohim, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore Elohim, Your Elohim, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions. (Psalm 45:5-7)”  “I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the Elohim of Daniel. For He is El Chayim, and steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall endure to the end. (Daniel 6:26)”  “…to the Son He says: "Your throne, O Elohim, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore Elohim, Your Elohim, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions." (Hebrews 1:8,9)”  “Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the Kingdom of our Elohim, and the power of His Messiah have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our Elohim day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (Revelation 12:9-11)”

Now that we have established the primary graces let us look at the secondary graces.  Secondary graces do not act through Yahweh’s affections, rather they act they acts through Yahweh’s higher primary graces, suppressing self esteem’s control of the lower primary graces, moving from self-interest to ministry as its quality.

The secondary graces are humility, reticence, modesty, simplicity, industry, longsuffering, self-sacrifice, courage, candor, frankness, forbearance, forgiveness, generosity, and temperance.

“Therefore, as the elect of Yahweh, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;  bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Messiah forgave you, so you also must do. (Colossians 3:11-13)”

Yahweh exercises humility suppressing the control of other’s esteem allowing them to exercises their will.  Yahweh exercises reticence, modesty and simplicity suppressing His ease. Yahweh exercises industry suppressing His self-defense.  Yahweh exercises longsuffering suppressing His vitality.  Yahweh exercises self-sacrifice suppressing His sense of safety.  Yahweh exercises candor and frankness suppressing His aggressiveness.  Yahweh exercises forbearance suppressing His gaining and retaining.  Yahweh exercises generosity and temperance suppressing His appetite.

Lastly, the third level of graces are: meekness, zeal, moderation, goodness, gentleness, joy, obedience and faithfulness.    “…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Messiah's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-25)”  “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in Yahweh. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to Yahweh. (Ephesians 5:8-10)”

Yahweh’s Strength of Character

This is the perseverance of character that regulates the attributes of the primary and secondary graces.  When we cease to be able to control our graces they become disgraces.  For example, self-confidence controlling us becomes self-sufficiency.  Dignity controlling us produces arrogance.  Attractiveness controlling us produces vanity.  And restfulness controlling us produces laziness. Yahweh is incapable of being out of control and out of balance with His character.

Yahweh’s Domination of Character

Dominion comes through the blending of coordination, super-ordination and subordination of all the graces.  Such as when Yahweh’s attitude and works are attacking evil.  His lower primary graces couple with the appropriate affections cause the secondary and third level graces to react.  However, these graces must come under the higher primary graces’ dominion, otherwise sin would develop which is impossible with Yahweh.

In suppressing control, or if the case is required, the activity of the lower primary, secondary and third level graces, sin is prevented and the will is accomplished.  This is done by using the lower primary, secondary and third level graces as servants of righteousness and holiness.

“…we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of Yahweh has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:3-5)”

Yahweh’s Balance of Character

This is Yahweh adjusting His affections and graces in harmony with one another is such coordination, super-ordination and subordination as the principles of Divine understanding, wisdom, justice and love in a rightful ordered relationship to one another.

“Yahweh, who may abide in Your Tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?

He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart; he who does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he honors those who fear Yahweh; he who swears to his own hurt and does not change; he who does not put out his money at usury, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved. (Psalm 15)”
