To all who negate the use o the moon in the reckoning of calendar time: what do you make of Psalm 104:19, "He appointed the moon for seasons (moedim / appointed times): the sun knoweth his going down."

@Raymond Paul Moats:  Cross reference Psalm 104:19 with Devarim 4:19.  Same word, yareach:  "And beware not to lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven...."

Devarim is the original Hebrew name of the book known as Deuteronomy.
Comment by Wayne Ingalls on April 1, 2011 at 4:09pm

Raymond, I was just pointing out to you that your analysis of Psalm 104:19 -- that it *should* be translated as month and not as moon, based on the Hebrew -- would only work if you can look up into the sky and see a month (based on Devarim/Deuteronomy 4:19).

Wayne

Psa 104:19  He made the moon to mark the seasons(H4150 Moed); the sun knows its time for setting.

Jer 31:35,36  Thus says YHVH, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances (H2708 Appointed, set time) of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances (H2706 Appointed, set time) depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

In Leviticus 23 Father speaks of His appointed times, His feasts. The first one to be mentioned is the 7th day Sabbath. Since we have determined that His calandar is based upon the new moon being the Full moon and His feasts, including the Sabbath,

Lev 23:2  "Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, These are the appointed feasts (H4150 Moed) of YHVH that you shall proclaim as holy convocations (or better Set-Apart rehearsals H4744) ; they are my appointed feasts.

Many claim that the full moon happens on the feast of Passover and Tabernacles. Yet Psalm 81:3 states a singular Feast, not plural. The Reference is the Feast of Trumpets.

Psa 81:3-4  Blow the trumpet at the new moon, (H2320) at the full moon (H3677), on our feast day (H2282 Chag).  For this was a statute (H2706) for Israel, and a law (H4941 Mishpat) of the Mighty One of Jacob.

Ben Meleck, is it your view that Sabbath is determined by the new moon?

Wayne Ingalls, allow me to ask a few questions to answer yours.

What day is the Passover celebrated? Evening of the 14th of the first month.

The First day of Unleavened bread? Fifteenth of the first month.

The Feast of Trumpets? First day of the seventh month.

Day of Atonement? 10th of the seventh month.

Tabernacles? 15th of the seventh month.

Wayne, I realize you know the answer to these questions, my question is, why don't we know what happens on the seventh day? What calendar did the Israelites use at the time that Exodus 19 was written? If they called the first day of the month, 'the first day' the following day would obviously be the second day and so on, right up until the seventh day. Right?

Take a look at the Torah and see that every time the Father talks about the Shabbat He refers to it as "the seventh day". If we know what the first day is, why don't we know what the seventh day is?

Do you understand my answer?

Here this might help:

(Gen 2:2,3)  And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

(Exo 16:26,27)  Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, which is a Sabbath, there will be none." On the seventh day some of the people went out to gather, but they found none.

(Exo 16:29)  See! YHVH has given you the Sabbath; therefore on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days. Remain each of you in his place; let no one go out of his place on the seventh day."

(Exo 16:30)  So the people rested on the seventh day.

(Exo 20:10)  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to YHVH your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.

(Exo 20:11)  For in six days YHVH made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore YHVH blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

(Exo 23:12)  "Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; that your ox and your donkey may have rest, and the son of your servant woman, and the alien, may be refreshed.

(Exo 31:15)  Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to YHVH. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death.

(Exo 31:17)  It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel that in six days YHVH made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.'"

(Exo 34:21)  "Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.

(Exo 35:2)  Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to YHVH. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.

(Lev 23:3)  "Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work. It is a Sabbath to YHVH in all your dwelling places.

Any Questions?

I host a group of people in our home every Sabbath, however my wife and I are the only ones in our group who follow the Enoch calendar. It's certainly good to hear others that do

Merv, if you keep reading the Book of Khawnoke[a.k.a.-Enoch] you will find that he says the new moon starts the month. This can not happen on the so-called Enoch Solar Calendar! The only reason that the so-called sun calendar is even in the Book of Khawnoke, or the Essene's writings for that matter, is because even with the moon starting our months the sun helps to start the year. We have to wait for the solar equinox to take place before we can start the year. So we have to keep up with the revolution of the sun and then look for the first slither of the moon to start the new year.

By the way the Book of Khawnoke has a lunar calendar in it also if one where to read the whole thing and not just use parts of it. Yah does not change! He will not tell one to start keeping the year differently than He has told others in the past.

As far as many forgetting the truth is one thing but when one repents they will be open to the truths that they once denied. He allows us to follow what ever vain reasoning we wish to, but once we are ready to repent and receive the truth we but only need to study and the truth is there. Mind you you will have to read past some ridiculous stuff before getting to the plain truth of things, such as this so-called Enoch and Essene solar only calendar. Yes they had one but only for the purpose of knowing when the equinox was so they could know that the next new moon was the start of a new year.

If you read Josephus's and Philo's writintg you will also find that they attest that the first slither of the moon after the sun's equinox starts the year. Every thing is to be established on two or three witnesses. Philo,  Josephus,  and the Book of Khawnoke are 3 ancient witnesses that the months start with the first slither of the moon and that the year starts after the sun's equinox upon the sighting of the new moon which is attested to as the first visual sighting thereof.

I encourage you to keep studying and stop using the so-called Enoch solar calendar and start doing as the ancient witnesses attested of.

Please do not think that I am trying to be condescending toward you as I would not be the best kind of person to do so, as I once followed the Lunar Shabbawth calendar and then I found the so-called Enoch Solar Calendar, but I keep studying until I found the ancient witnesses actually attest to a lunar solar calendar. So I know what it is like to try and wade through all the stuff on the Internet and find truth. Actually Yah had to seed me people to point out the fact that not only does Philo and Josephus attest to the Lunar solar calendar but that Khawnoke does so as well.
